Air Travel Tips
A quick guide for air passengers — simple do’s and don’ts to make your journey through CISF-secured airports smooth, safe and hassle-free.
Do’s
- Carry a valid ID card.
- Carry only the luggage known to you.
- Check the allowable weight limit as per the airline to be carried as check-in baggage.
- Ensure that you carry only one hand baggage weighing not more than 8 kg. A laptop, a ladies purse or a baby stroller is allowed apart from the above handbag.
- Carry items which are safe from a security angle.
- Be in possession of a valid arms licence in case you carry a licensed firearm. Firearms are allowed in registered baggage, as per rule.
- Place all non-essential items in registered baggage. Submit all declarations as per the requirement of the airline concerned.
- Assist security personnel in carrying out mandatory security checks. Prior to security checks, place all metallic items such as watch, wallet etc. in the handbag.
- Declare any prosthetics, so that necessary care can be provided by security personnel while frisking.
- Put all undeveloped films and cameras with film in your cabin (carry-on) baggage. Checked baggage screening equipment may damage undeveloped films.
- Place identification tags on all your baggage. Don’t forget to label your laptop computer — one of the most forgotten items at screening checkpoints.
- Check for the boarding gate and wait for the boarding.
Don’ts
- Do not carry packed gifts without verifying the contents.
- Do not carry a photocopy of your ID card. A photocopy is not acceptable for entry at airports.
- Do not carry heavy luggage while travelling. If it exceeds the allowable limit, you may have to bear additional freight charges, as per the rates decided by the airline.
- Do not carry security-restricted items in hand bags or check-in luggage.
- Do not travel under the influence of alcohol or drugs. This may become a reason to offload you.
- Do not carry dangerous goods such as acid, inflammable items etc. in the check-in baggage.
- Do not forget to inform security about implants, prosthetics etc. in the body. You may be required to carry a doctor’s advice in such cases.
- Do not leave your baggage unattended.
- Do not accept baggage from strangers. It may contain prohibited items or dangerous goods.
- Do not move far away from the boarding gates. The airline may leave without you if you fail to report at the boarding gate on time.
